Dear Dharma Friends,

The Venerable Traga Rinpoche has begun a project to benefit his home village in Tibet. This village is in dire need of running water and electricity.

In the spirit of benefiting fellow mother sentient beings Rinpoche will be departing for Tibet this summer to bring basic utilities to his home town, precious items which we fortunate enough to take birth in the developed parts of the world consider basic living essentials -- running water and electric light.

The scope of the project involves construction of a reservoir, laying of pipes and establishment of a hydro-electric system. There is a great hope that this project can be completed by December 2010. It is also our hope that this can become a model project for other villages to create the same basic ecologically kind utility systems.

We can only image what living in current Tibet is like without the basic essentials of running water and electric light. Given the hardships undergone by the Tibetan peoples in the last 40 to 50 years having these basic services is one way to bring a little comfort to those caught in the current situation of aggression.

The scope of work to be done:
Ditches to be dug for laying pipes will be approximately 1,500 meters over flat land, and the salary for workers who dig the ditches over flat land will be 20 Yuan for each meter. There are 700 meters of up hill digging for a salary of 30 Yuan per meter. The salary for laying the pipes and covering the ditches is 5 Yuan a meter. The costs of the pipes is 15,400 Yuan. The price for water spigots is 800 Yuan. The price for the water tank will be 6,300 Yuan.

The costs of the project are as follows:
Please donate what you can toward this wonderful heartfelt project of Rinpoche's. It is born from enlightened intent to benefit the mother beings of Rinpoche's hometown. Without these mother beings and their forebearers we would not be having the experience of our precious Lama. These are the very people who made sure that he was comforted and cared for as a young child.

I believe that this is one of the most profound ways that we can make an offering to Rinpoche for his precious teachings, teachings that will influence us for the rest of our lives.

Thanks to our wonderful friends at Tibet Aid we are now able to offer you a tax deductible receipt for your donation. Just use the donate button and Tibet Aid will email you a tax deductible receipt for your contribution.
